JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA SELECTION TEST (JNVST)

 

Admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya,Karaikal (JNV Karaikal) is based on a selection test  which is a common one for all the  JNVs across the country. The admission is to class VI and a candidate should be studying in class V  in a government/government  recognized school for being eligible for applying for class VI Selection Test known as JNVST (Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test)

 

How to get an application Form:-

 

      Application forms for admission may be made on the prescribed Application form (placed in the centre of the prospectus, to be removed carefully) available free of cost  with the:

 

1.District Collector

2.Chief Educational Officer

3.Principal, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya

4.Headmaster of any Govt./Govt. aided / Recognised / Accredited Institute / Centre of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan / NIOS where he / she is studying

 

How to submit the filled in  Application form:-

 

      Duly filled in application form must reach the Chief Educational Officer latest by the end of September every year.

 

Result of the Selection Test:-

 

      The result of the JNVST is expected to be announced by the end of May of the year of admission.  The result will be displayed in the offices of the concerned.

Selection and Admission

  Selection in the test will not vest any right on the candidates to secure admission into the JNV.  At the time of seeking actual admission, each selected candidate will have to produce all relevant certificates, as prescribed by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.  Until admission, the selection is provisional.

  In case of any dispute, the decision of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti shall be final and binding on the candidates.

 

Eligibility Criteria:-

Only the candidates from the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has been opened are eligible to apply for admission.  However, the district where JNV is opened and is bifurcated at a later date, the old boundaries of the district are considered for the purpose of eligibility for admission into JNVST, in case a new vidyalaya has not started in the newly bifurcated district as yet.

 

 

For Urban candidates:-

   A candidate who has studied in a school located in an Urban area even for a single day of a session in any class III, IV& V will be considered as an Urban Candidate.  Urban areas are those which are so defined in 2001 census or through a subsequent Government Notification.  All other areas will be considered as rural.

 

Reservation of Seats:-

   At least 75% of the seats in a district are filled by candidates selected from rural areas and remaining seats are filled from Urban areas of the district.

 

One third of the total seats are filled up by girls.

 

There is a provision for reservation of 3% seats for Disabled Children ( i.e. Orthopaedically Handicapped, Hearing Impaired and Visually Handicapped)

A single test booklet comprising of the 3 sections will be given to each candidate.

Lateral Admission to classes IX and XI

JNV Karaikal also admits students to class IX and XI against the seats vacant in each academic year. Lateral entry is restricted to theses two classes only at present.

Admission to class IX:

For applying for admission to class IX vacant seat, a candidate should have passed class VIII from a government recognized  of Karaikal. The selection is based on an objective type admission test (Multiple choice) of 100 marks comprising of English, Hindi, Maths and Science of class VIII level.

Application is  generally invited in April every year  and test is conducted in May of the same year.

Admission to class XI

Admission to class XI also  is available if seats are lying vacant for filling up. Unlike class IX, admission to class XI is made based on the marks scored in the public (Board) Examination. At present JNV Karaikal admits students under lateral entry only to Science Stream since that is the only stream run at the school.
